Radio 4 Extra features Charles Parker winners

The winning entries of the 2013 Charles Parker Prize are to be featured in a special hour long programme The Charles Parker Prize 2013 on BBC Radio 4 Extra at 11pm on Saturday 11 May.  The winning entries were:

Four Metal Plates: Hana Walker-Brown from Goldsmiths College – Gold Award

5-7-5 – a feature about Haiku and silence: Flora Neve, also from Goldsmiths – Silver Award

Speaking Out about Disability Hate Crime: Joanne Feather from University College, Falmouth – Bronze Award

There were also verbal commendations for:

Panthers in Herefordshire – Jim Kerwood (Birmingham City University)
Jam Jars and Sticklebacks – Evy Samuelsson (Goldsmith College, London)
The Beatles in West Yorkshire – Anthony Day (Leeds University)
Playing with Fire – Louis Chadwick (University of Salford)

The programme on 11 May will feature all the winners and some other entries.


Prizes included a SADiE editing suite for the Gold award and Pure One Mini digital radios with a union jack design for all three winners.  Flora’s award was accepted by a friend on her behalf.  Photo by Johnny Blackburn.
